Chrome MCP

Read pages and complete tasks in the Chrome you already use.

Drive your everyday Chrome through an extension, keeping your real logins and open tabs.

What you can do

A connector lets the assistant use an app or tool for you. Once connected, ask it to work with Chrome MCP.

Use your signed-in Chrome

Acts in your own browser, so pages keep your logins and open tabs.

Interact

Read page contents, click elements, and fill forms on your behalf.

Manage tabs

Open, switch, and close tabs as part of a task.

Things you can ask

Type these in chat once the connector is on.

What you need

No separate account is needed. This connector requires Chrome, a helper on your computer, and an extension installed by hand. Some computers also need developer build tools; Plexon checks before installation.

Setup details

No account. Plexon installs a small local helper for you. That helper builds part of itself from source, so it needs a C++ compiler: the Visual Studio Build Tools with the Desktop development with C++ workload on Windows, xcode-select --install on macOS, build-essential on Linux. Plexon checks before installing and tells you if it is missing. Load the extension once from the GitHub release, then click Connect. Browser MCP does the same job through an extension and needs no compiler.

This is the one that reaches furthest: your open tabs, browsing history, bookmarks, captured network traffic, and search across everything you have open. Nothing else here does that. The setup is the price. It needs a compiler on some machines, and its extension comes from GitHub releases rather than the Chrome Web Store, so you load it unpacked in developer mode and it never auto-updates. Chrome only. Browser MCP attaches to your signed-in browser too, from a Web Store extension, with no helper and no compiler. Agent Browser is the one that runs unattended, and Playwright is the one for end-to-end tests. The install screen explains the differences and lets you switch.

When a task uses an online app, that app receives the request. Its results may also be sent to the AI service handling your chat. You can turn the connector on for one workspace and leave it off for another.

Four browser connectors

Chrome MCP reaches open tabs, history, bookmarks, and activity between websites and your browser. Setup needs a helper and an extension installed by hand; the extension does not update automatically. It supports Chrome only. Browser MCP has a simpler extension setup, Agent Browser can run while you are away, and Playwright is suited to testing websites.
